International Hotel Franchisors Intensify Exploring Chinese Market

The world's two leading franchise hotels Intercontinental Hotel and Accor Hotel announced recently they had worked out long-term policies of exploring Chinese market and they would open more franchise hotels in China. The president of Intercontinental Hotel predicted that 2008 Olympic Game would create rapid development opportunities for hotel industry. They will build 9 hotels in Shanghai, Beijing, Macao and cities in west China, making its hotel number in China reaches 54. Accor Hotel has planned to open another 20 hotels within two years on the basis of the existing 24 hotels in China. Super 8 Hotel Will Launch in Shanghai in July

The world's leading franchise economy hotel "Super 8" will open two economy hotels in Shanghai in July. At the same time, Super 8 Hotels (China) Co., Ltd. will set up office in Shanghai to manage the business of Yangtze River Delta area.
Since it's entry into Chinese market, Super 8 has established 10 franchisee outlets, with 2 hotels in Beijing, 2 hotels in Hangzhou, 2 hotels in Suzhou, and 1 hotel in Zhuji, Wuxi, Wuhan and Dalian. The company plans to recruit 30 more in 2005.

Mengxin, PR director of Super 8 Hotels (China) Co., Ltd. told the reporter there were no Super 8 hotel in Shanghai now, but 3-4 projects were under preparation. It was predicted that the contract could be signed in March or April, plus 2-3 months rebuild and decoration, so Shanghai Super 8 hotel would be opened in July.

Besides, Super 8 has only established a company in Beijing after it entered Chinese market in April 2004. Mengxin revealed that the company was planning to set up office in Shanghai probably before the opening of Shanghai Super 8 hotels.
